Ten USAC candidates receive campaigning sanctions

By Daily Bruin Staff

May 9, 2012 1:10 a.m.

Candidates David Bocarsly, Andrea “Andi” Hester, Raquel Saxe, Michael Starr, Carly Yoshida, Yasar Mohebi, Kim Davis, Allyson Taylor, Stephen Kraman and Sahil Seth were sanctioned from campaigning on campus until 10 a.m. or campaigning online from 9-10 a.m. on Monday since they failed to turn in receipts for their candidate expense reports to the Election Board on time.

Student groups United Korean Voice, Random Acts of Kindness and Board Club were told to remove their signboards endorsing candidates, since they did not participate in the endorsement hearings.

Candidates Saxe, Taylor and Seth were also sanctioned from campaigning on campus and online from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday for an email sent by Saxe promoting their candidacy that was sent to individuals who did not voluntarily gave her their email addresses.

The email also violated the Election Code for not being including a copy to the Election Board chair.
