April 2, 2011 – This spring break, students in the UCLA Global Medical Training chapter embarked on a trip to Nicaragua to set up health clinics. Fresh out of finals and under the supervision of medical professionals, these students diagnosed and treated part of the Nicaraguan population, half of which is living under the poverty line. Living up to the organization’s motto, “Do by learning,” Global Medical Training students gained hands-on experience through their interactions with the local community.
