Occupy UCLA protest, USAC rally set for Thursday

By Daily Bruin Staff

Two protests are set to take place on campus Thursday, both demonstrating against tuition increases and cuts to higher education in California.

Take Back UCLA, a student-led activist group, will be setting up tents in Wilson Plaza in an effort to begin an on-campus Occupy movement.

According to the event’s Facebook page, the group aims to camp out in Wilson Plaza in solidarity with ongoing Occupy movements at UC Berkeley and UC Davis.

At the same time, the Undergraduate Students Association Council is capping off its “Fund the UC” week of action with a midday rally in Meyerhoff Park. The week has included USAC-sponsored outreach to state legislators and congressional leaders in opposition to budget cuts to education.
