A recent UCLA graduate was killed by a taxi on Wilshire Boulevard early Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Santa Monica Police Department.

Melissa Del Aguila, 24, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries.

Del Aguila was celebrating her graduation at Q’s Billiard Club in West Los Angeles around 1 a.m. on Friday, according to the release. At about 2:20 a.m., she ran out into traffic on the 2400 block of Wilshire Boulevard and was struck by an oncoming Bell Cab.

It is unclear how she made her way to Santa Monica, since she had no mode of transportation, according to the release.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Chris Dawson at 310-458-8954 or Sergeant Jeff Wiles at 310-458-8950.
