Lighting problem leads to cancellation of UCLA baseball’s Tuesday matchup with Cal State Fullerton

By Daily Bruin Staff

May 18, 2011 1:39 a.m.

This wasn’t exactly the lights-out pitching that UCLA had in mind.

The Bruins’ game with Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night was cancelled because of an electrical issue that knocked out three light standards down the left-field line.

The malfunction occurred about half an hour before the scheduled 6 p.m. first pitch, and after a lengthy delay the coaches of each team met with the umpires and the game was called.

In a move likely affected by the timing of the schedule ““ there are less than two weeks left in the regular season ““ the game will not be rescheduled.

UCLA (29-19, 14-7 Pac-10) resumes play this weekend with a three-game home series against California (28-16, 12-9).
