Just when everyone thought the UCLA football team’s staff was in place and ready to tackle Spring Practice, another coaching move was made Monday.

Special teams coach Frank Gansz Jr. has left UCLA for “personal reasons” and will be replaced by director of on-campus recruiting for football, Angus McClure.

McClure is one of the few holdovers from former coach Karl Dorrell’s staff. He served as Dorrell’s tight ends coach in 2007 before taking over recruiting. Whether or not McClure will retain his post as a recruiter has yet to be determined.

“Angus has a lot of experience both in on-field coaching and administration and organization,” coach Rick Neuheisel said in a statement. “He has been a valuable member of the staff and I know he was anxious to return to coaching. This will be a smooth transition and I expect our special teams to flourish under his guidance.”
