Rowing opens season with wins against Loyola Marymount and Long Beach Rowing Association

By Daily Bruin Staff

March 7, 2011 3:37 a.m.

Coming off a year in which it earned a team spot at NCAA Championships for the very first time, the UCLA rowing team kicked off its 2011 season with four victories in four races.

The Bruins swept three races against Loyola Marymount and one against Long Beach Rowing Association on Saturday morning in Marina Del Rey.

Last season, the Bruins finished fifth in the Pac-10 and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, where they finished 12th overall as a team.

Saturday’s tune-up meet for UCLA comes in advance of a head-to-head matchup against San Diego State on Sunday in Marina Del Rey.
