The No. 7 UCLA women’s tennis team defeated No. 16 USC 6-1 on Friday to take a season sweep of the Women of Troy. The Bruins also won at Marks Tennis Stadium 4-3 on March 3.

The day was especially sweet for senior Yasmin Schnack, who closed out her regular season home career at UCLA in impressive fashion. After digging herself into a 5-0 hole in the first set to junior Maria Sanchez, Schnack proceeded to win the next seven games to close out the first set and the first two of the second set en route to a 7-5, 7-5 victory.

Junior Maya Johansson turned 22 years old Friday and celebrated her birthday with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over junior Cristala Andrews. Junior Noelle Hickey turned around a shaky start and triumphed over sophomore Alison Ramos 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.

The win keeps the Bruins (19-3, 6-1 Pac-10) alive in the Pac-10 title race. If No. 12 California defeats conference leader No. 10 Stanford on Saturday and USC claims victory over the Cardinal in a rescheduled match next week, UCLA will take on the Golden Bears with a shot at the Pac-10 crown.
