The construction of new graduate student housing on Weyburn Avenue has been approved by the UC Board of Regents’ Committee on Grounds and Buildings, said UC Office of the President spokesman Steve Montiel.

The plans for construction include 500 studio apartments, a commons building with administrative offices and a large meeting room.

It is expected to cost an estimated $121.5 million, according to the UC Regents Web site.

The Board of Regents is scheduled hold a final vote on the proposed construction Thursday at the Regents’ meeting, which is taking place over the next three days at UC San Francisco.
