USAC grants funding to Queer Alliance

It seems the Undergraduate Students Associated Council is experiencing a calm before the storm that is the beginning of the year. Yesterday’s meeting was short and sweet.
USAC approved three presidential appointments without contention, and as commissioners discussed upcoming projects they seemed very excited, joking with one another and laughing.
Finance Committee Chair Parsa Sobhani announced to council that the conflict with the Queer Alliance regarding their funding request for tickets to “N.W.C: The Race Play” had been resolved.
Sobhani said that after talking and working with Queer Alliance director Jeremiah Garcia, the decision had been made to allocate $400 to the group.
When their initial request was denied, the Queer Alliance had appealed the decision. This prompted discussion regarding council’s policies and precedents for giving funding for entertainment purposes, which Sobhani said should be clarified for similar situations in the future.
After a short hour the meeting was adjourned.
