Crimewatch

Five permits from parking structures 2,4,8 and CHS were stolen
during this week. In several incidents, the suspect(s) pried open
the car window, removing CDs and a leather folder in addition to
the permits.

Over $1200 worth of stereo equipment was stolen from vehicles
parked in structures SV and CHS. The suspect(s) smashed the
driver’s side window before removing the equipment.

A rear license plate and towing attachment were stolen from the
bumper of a vehicle in structure 8.

Although the numbers have decreased from last week, two
backpacks were reported stolen from Covel Dining Hall, amounting to
a loss of over $600.

Other items reported stolen included a $1000 laptop taken from
Public Policy, a $200 mountain bike taken from the bike rack at
URL’s east side and a gym bag stolen from Franz Hall. Contents were
valued at $465.

A stethoscope was stolen from CHS as well as boxes of plaster
from Dentistry. The loss totaled over $300.

Murphy Hall was the target of a bomb threat this week. The
subject is the sister of a UCLA applicant. She threatened to bomb
Murphy Hall if she did not receive prompt service.

In a similar incident, an ER patient threatened to blow up CHS.
He claimed a set of clippers were taken from him during admission
and were never returned.

Several sets of keys were reported stolen from Young and a
university vehicle. One of the key rings was a set of university
master keys.
