Crimewatch

The week was not serene for the UCPD forces, who were called in
for more than 40 incidences of disturbing the peace and two calls
for keeping the peace.

The complaints of disturbances came mainly in response to loud
parties.

A group of protesters also attempted to climb through a window
at Royce Hall, and another group protested outside the Faculty
Center.

Other instances of unauthorized persons ranged from
skateboarders in Westwood Plaza to members of the Delta Sigma Pi
fraternity dumping trash in a dumpster belonging to a university
contractor.

Similar violations involved smoking in an area designated as
non-smoking, and a health and safety code violation at Bombshelter
Deli stemming from subjects smoking marijuana in the
restaurant.

Two subjects caused a different kind of disturbance, with one
reported incidence of lewd conduct in a mens’ restroom, and another
incident of indecent exposure.

The perpetrator of indecent exposure committed the act outside
of Thrifty’s drug store.

Car-related burglary and theft continue to be a problem on
campus.

This week saw five reported incidents of burglary from cars; the
stolen merchandise included stereo equipment and a parking
pass.

Also, two suspects were apprehended while breaking the window of
a car, allegedly with the intent to steal the merchandise
inside.

Some thieves did not stop with just the stereo, as three cars
were stolen this week.

Eleven cars reported as lost or stolen were found, and three
stolen cars were recovered. One suspect was taken into
custody..

Four people suffered from reported cases of battery this week,
and another from assault with a deadly weapon.

Another subject was reported brandishing a 9mm handgun, and in
an unrelated incident, shots were reported fired on Sepulveda
Blvd.
