For the 91st time, the men’s volleyball teams of UCLA and USC
will meet, as the Bruins host the Trojans in the first round of the
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament, 7 p.m Saturday at
Pauley Pavilion.

No. 1 UCLA (26-1 overall) comes into the postseason with a
perfect 19-0 MPSF record. Seeded first as the Mountain Division
champion, UCLA plays the eighth seed of the eight-team tournament.
No. 11 USC (11-12 overall) finished in the middle of the Pacific
Division pack, at 8-10.

The Bruins have had their way in recent years with USC. UCLA is
9-4 in the 1990s against the Trojans. The series record stands at
65-25 in favor of the Bruins.

"I think we’ve pounded on them a lot, every time we’ve played
them," UCLA swing hitter Kevin Wong said. "I think we match up well
against them."

The semifinals and the MPSF tournament championship match will
be next weekend, April 28-29.The highest remaining seed in the
tournament at that point will host those matches.
