The University Council-American Federation of Teachers announced Thursday that it filed an unfair labor practice charge against the University.
UC-AFT – a union representing 6,500 UC librarians and non-tenured faculty members – filed the charge Wednesday, saying the University failed to maintain safe working conditions, disregarded faculty free speech rights and did not consult members of the union when making decisions regarding online instruction after protests at UCLA and UC San Diego.
UCLA Health received approval to increase the number of acute care inpatient beds in the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Wednesday.
Under the proposal, which was agendized Item F1D, the hospital’s fourth-floor behavioral health units will be converted into general medical and surgical acute care spaces.

MERCED — The UC Board of Regents Academic and Student Affairs Committee approved a proposal to increase the tuition of graduate programs Wednesday.
MERCED – The UC Board of Regents appointed UCLA alumnus Janet Reilly as its next chair at a meeting Thursday.

MERCED – The UC Board of Regents Special Committee on Athletics voted to authorize the transfer of $10 million a year from UCLA to UC Berkeley from 2024-2025 through 2026-2027, revisiting the financial support in 2027-2028.
The vote comes in the wake of UCLA leaving the Pac-12 to join the Big Ten, a decision the Board of Regents approved in December 2022.
