As Gov. Gavin Newsom and the California legislature tackle the state’s nearly $60 billion estimated budget deficit, some UCLA experts said the UC’s funding might be at risk – which could lead to tuition hikes or altered admissions – while others said the University will remain unaffected. 
Budget deficits occur when state expenditures exceed revenue.

The Bruin Parenting Scholars hosted a healing and visibility walk Wednesday to urge UCLA to increase resources, safety and equitability for student parents and their children.

The UC Board of Regents voted Wednesday to delay its decision on Item J1 – a policy that would prohibit University departments from making political statements on their website homepages – until it reconvenes in May. 
The motion to delay the vote until the board’s May meetings passed unanimously and was the second time the regents delayed a vote on the policy since January.

Around 100 protesters gathered outside the UC Board of Regents’ meeting Wednesday to call for better contracts and protections for service, patient technical care and skilled craft workers.
